Glenn Hauer logs May 24-25, 2018

** CHINA. 13530, May 25 at 1323, JBA OOB carrier with flutter, presumably CNR1 *jamming as Aoki/NDXC has Sound of Hope:
``13530.217 2110-1550 TWN * SOH Xi Wang Zhi Sheng  Chi ? 1-7``
And this one was not way off-frequency like that. It`s the only SOH listed between 13270 and 13620 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9805, May 25 at 0121, heavy pulse jamming against nothing, despite Radio Martí active here only at 10-13 UT. Something`s always wrong at the dangerous DentroCuban Jamming Command (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [and non]. 13660, May 25 at 1325, RHC Spanish is VP, i.e. leapfrog mixing product of 13740 over 13700 another 40 kHz lower; at 1350 I can hear the reverse match at 13780. Something`s always wrong at RHC, but at least today not including FM spurblobs all over 22m.

13670, May 25 at 1326, mixture of VP music and I think RHC audio, maybe overload, or protracted 11-12 UT weak fundamental transmission? Aoki/NDXC shows at this hour both CRI English via Kashgar and PBS Xinjiang Urumqi in Uyghur, from East Turkistan: surely not really both! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13740, May 25 at 1400 I check whether the Cubans are colliding with each other? Yes! RHC past scheduled 1400* with Sonido Cubano music is much louder than CRI English relay from *1400, and this goes on until 1404:45 when RHC stops just as CRI news is ending, and 1405 `Roundtable` starting, TGIF. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1931 monitoring: not confirmed Thursday May 24 at 2330 on WBCQ 9330v, as Brother Scare rages on. WOR has now been AWOL for two weeks from this timing, so I can only assume it`s been canceled without notice. Since WBCQ does not notify me, perhaps some would-be listener can ask Allan if and whenever he will be carrying WOR on 9330? The schedule is never up-to-date:
http://schedule.wbcq.com/index.php?fn=sked&freq=9330
which also shows Full Gospel Hour, really gone from 9330 for 7490.

This means that there are *no* WOR SW broadcasts to be heard in North America between 2130 UT Wednesday, and 2300 UT Saturday when WRMI resumes on 7780. But there are always much more reliable podcasts anywhen. Rather:

Sat 0629   HLR 6190-CUSB to WSW from Germany
Sat 1431   HLR 6190-CUSB to WSW from Germany
Sat 1930v  WA0RCR 1860-AM ND
Sat 2300   WRMI 7780 to NE
Sun 0200   WRMI 7780 to NE
Sun 0310v  WA0RCR 1860-AM ND
Sun 1030   HLR 9485-CUSB to WSW from Germany
Sun 1900   WRMI 9395 to NNW
Mon 0130.5 WRMI 5850 to NW, 7780 to NE
Mon 0300v  WBCQ 5130v Area 51 to WSW
Mon 0330   WRMI 9955 to SSE
Mon 0400   WRMI webcast only
Tue 0030   WRMI 7730 to WNW
Tue 2030   WRMI 7780 to NE, 5950 to WNW [or #1932?]
Tue 2130   WRMI 7780 to NE, 5950 to WNW [or #1932?]

** U S A. 9395, Thursday May 24 at 2046, surprised to hear Radiogram beeping, during an hour when WRMI is supposed to be relaying RAE in voiced Italian. Must not be IBC which does this only in final pentaminute of their semihours; nor Broad Spectrum Radio which emits only in the nightmiddle. I keep listening and there are only beeps, with some pauses to change subject, no voice announcements even at closing, but at 2058.5 a giveaway minute of a jazzed-up version of ``Back Home in Indiana`` tune, which must be Kim`s signature. 2059.5 canned WRMI ID by Biermann.

O yes, besides usual Friday at 2030 on 7780 & 5950, Kim`s SW Radiogram had a special emission exactly one week ago for the NASB meeting in Indiana, on his schedule for Thu May 17 at 2030 on 9395 WRMI, per http://swradiogram.net/

However: the Thursday May 17 agenda at NASB Elkhart per
http://www.shortwave.org/index.php/annual-meeting-info/
shows the Radiogram ``live`` demo at the wrong time, 1700-1745 UT, with something completely different when the 9395 broadcast really aired at 4:30 pm local EDT:

``1:00-1:45 pm - Digital Broadcasts on Analogue Shortwave Transmitters - presentation by Dr. Kim Andrew Elliott, producer of "Shortwave Radiogram" (recently retired from VOA), including the live decoding of a Radiogram broadcast

1:45-2:00 pm - Galcom International Update and Portable FM Transmitters - by Dave Casement

2:00-2:30 pm - Adventist World Radio Update by Dr. Dowell Chow, former AWR President

2:30-3:00 pm - International Broadcasting Bureau Shortwave Projects, by Gerhard Straub, Director, IBB Broadcast Technologies Division

3:00-3:30 pm - Coffee Break

3:30-4:00 pm - 360-degree Rotatable Antenna Systems - presentation by Jerome Hirigoyen of Telediffusion de France

4:00-5:00 pm - Information about the new Gospell GR-216 DRM receiver and a 2018 worldwide recap of DRM news, presented by Christopher Rumbaugh of the DRM North America Group.``

I should not have been surprised, as this is only another instance of a special booking/preëmption on WRMI NOT being removed the following week, not restoring the original programming. The server could well go on running it further weeks unless someone complain, least of all RAE (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7505, May 25 at 0125, WRNO with different programming than before: it`s Rick Wiles of TruNews, who gave up on SW almost 15 months ago! He is conversing with another gospel huxter, about plans to broadcast from Bethlehem for Pentecost(?) in a few days if the technical arrangements can be made to get his 2-hour TV program on the air via satellite. By 0129, on to Trump-conspiracy wacko political discussion, as `TruNews` of course really means FakeNews. Still the same at 0205 and 0247 chex, so apparently this is the audio track of his 2-hour TV show, replacing Mawire and anything else on WRNO.

I don`t listen to WRNO except to divine whether it`s on the air, off-frequency, badly modulated, or in Chinese, but checked now after this tip from Ed Insinger, NJ, May 23:

``Hi Glenn, Been enjoying the Yahoo group loggings and wanted to let you know that last night I was listening to WRNO on 7505 kHz. At 0150 UT, I heard a great program entitled NEXT TECH NEWS. Featured stories included the latest advances in drone technology in Sacramento, California, (drone use by government to stop crime) University of Berkeley, (the us of autonomous weapons) UBER (designing an almost silent drone that cannot be detected by the human ear) Florida (using drones to spray for the Zika virus in Vero Beach, with a chemical payload of 1,500 lbs!) and MIT (virtual reality goggles placed on drones for training artificial intelligence technology) Excellent presentation, I wish it would have continued beyond 15 minutes [later per TruNews website, seems that Next Tech News is part of that --- gh]

At 0207 UT, I heard a voice from the past -- that being not since the Presidential election last year. All of a sudden, Rick Wiles came on. I remember him from a program on WRMI, broadcasting so-called "Tru News," then he seemed to disappear. He was somehow affiliated with a station called Son Powered Radio and even had a postal address. Despite this, I never heard from the station or him, despite several reception reports. Guess he was only looking for donations, not reception reports. Hmm. 73's, Ed Insinger``

Strangely enough, WRNO website does have a program schedule for each day, but as of May 24, the latest one there is dated May 1:
http://www.wrnoworldwide.com/tuesday-broadcast/#more

Note that it has the wrong time conversions for Germany in PM instead of AM and vice versa. In ``CST``, meaning CDT, it shows on the air from 8 pm to 8 am even on Sunday, when I heard it much earlier. Searching entire website on Wiles gets NO hits. So his abandonment of SW is over --- is he just buying time on WRNO or buying it? Why have they stopped putting up daily program schedules since May 1?

Background from DXLD 17-10 of March last year:

``I have a question. What happened to True News on WRMI? Is it
a case of another religious broadcaster not paying the bill?? I have
been hearing rock and Pop music for several days (at least) and then I
almost threw up hearing Brother scare (thankfully it wasn’t all day).
All received on Icom R-70 and a Vertical. Best 73 Doc W2MFT (Mark F
Tattenbaum, March 7 [2017], DX LISTENING DIGEST)

9395, March 2 [2017] at 0717, this WRMI is playing classic rock, Dylan, not // World Music on 5850, 6855, 7730. TruNews is gone! Until end of Feb, had been 24/7 on WRMI-6, 355 degrees, since Global 24 crashed a couple years ago. TruNews was initially on two more frequencies, then cut back to this one. TruNews still shows on the WRMI web schedule. Rather, Flowing Streams Ministry of which TruNews is/was the flagship program. Nothing on the TruNews website now about SW, or any radio broadcasts, but plenty of far-right extremist un-true slanted ``news``. Has Rick Wiles fallen out with WRMI, or simply a financial decision, SW no longer worth it??

9395, another check March 2 [2017] at 1421 finds more classic rock,
``Stairway to Heaven``; 1423 break at odd time for WRMI ID by Bob
Biermann. Never announces the music so I have to identify it: then
``It`s My Party`` by Leslie Gore; 1430 a WRMI ID mentioning 9395
specifically; 1434 ``Desiderata`` (you are a child of the universe) --
- NOT the parody, shux. 1438 ``Little Green Bag`` by The George Baker
Selexion; 1440 ``The Monkees``; 1443 some doo-wop; 1446 ``Smile a
Little Smile For Me, Rose Marie`` by The Flying Machine, etc., etc.

All the announcements are by Biermann, and suspect he is programming
this now. Biermann`s regular hour is ``Your Weekend Show`` which
started on TruNews, then expanded to various times (including mid-
week) on other WRMI frequencies, so he has survived the sinking ship
of TruNews. Surely a temporary filler until another full-time client
for 9395 can be found. A golden opportunity to get some
journalistically legitimate Public Radio service on SW!!

{dream on; this was the initiation of Oldies, which at least, later on, would start relaying VOA News at unpredictable 5-minute spots. If WRMI FB comments are to be believed, Oldies are a big hit}

I look for anything about this on WRMI`s FB, but nothing found (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1868, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

I discovered around 1300 this morning that WRMI 9395 kHz was playing
nothing but music instead of airing TruNews. I contacted TruNews about
this and they said they are no longer airing any programming on
shortwave. WRMI is still running music at this time so it remains to
be seen what will ultimately air on 9395. 73, (Jim K5JG, Gerke,
Carrollton TX, March 2, WORLD OF RADIO 1868, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Okeechobee, Florida. 9395 kHz, March 2nd, from 1710-1800 UT. Radio
Miami International. We were expecting to hear Un-Tru News from Son
Power Radio. Instead WRMI was playing golden oldies from the late
50's, 60's and 70's (no 80's songs yet). Signal was S9+S10. Between
every two one or two songs, the WRMI ID was given. So what? No more
TruNews from Sun Power Radio on that frequency? We say GREAT!! (JK and
Josh, near Atlanta, GA, March 2, dxldyg via DX LISTENING DIGEST)

- - - - posted to WRTH Facebook, by Mauno Ritola, on March 2:
"According to info received by Jim K5JG (ptsw list) from TruNews, they
have stopped transmission on shortwave." (Ron Howard, CA, ibid.)

If you'll remember, Rick Wiles finally got the license for that
station in St. Kitts and it was said that it also had a TV studio on
the grounds and Wiles implied that they would be moving equipment to
the site (John Carver, IN, WORLD OF RADIO 1868, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

St. Kitts should be safer than Florida when the apocalypse or New
World Order hits! {never mind hurricanes} (Glenn Hauser, DXLD)

In my post from yesterday about TruNews going off shortwave, I forgot
to say that I heard Rick Wiles mentioning on his program late last
week that he was getting ready to go all-in with streaming the
programming to digital devices rather than via radio. He said they
would continue radio broadcasts only on an FM station that his
ministry owns, located in Ocala, FL, I believe.

There was no hint in that broadcast that he would be exiting S/W so
soon as he had mentioned the new effort would launch around May 1st.
73, (Jim K5JG, March 2 [2017], ptsw yg via DXLD)``

[end of March 2017 historical flashback]

25 May 2018:
Search of http://www.trunews.com finds very little about St Kitts, just a few news items, and general search shows hardly anything St Kitts related to Wiles since 2016y.

WRTH 2018 4-line entry about it on page 377:
``SON POWER RADIO (Rlg.)
Flowing Streams, P O Box 690069, Vero Beach FL 32969-0069, USA
[wow, he`s really fond of 69s in his address! What`s with that?]
Tel. +1 772 569 8880
web: sonpowerradio.com
L P: Doc Burkhart
MW: Conaree, St Kitts 820 kHz 10 kW (F.pl.)``

So the St Kitts MW station is *still* a future plan, let alone SW from there? Is MW 820 on the air at all?

Doc Burkhart? Where have I heard that name before: O yes, in 2002 I heard from him at WJIE. We did not hear from or about him again until 2015y when he was with TruNews, and nothing since this log:

``11580, Oct 25 [2015] at 1338, I catch part of `Wavescan` on WRMI, which is tacked on Sundays only to this transmission, as Jeff is interviewing Doc Burkhart of Son-power Radio about their St. Kitts 820 kHz station, ex-Radio Paradise (tho they had adopted that name on some of the `TruNews` SW broadcasts). Seems the container containing a ready-to-go broadcast studio we heard about before, is currently being stored at the WRMI Okeechobee site before final shipment to the island, where they are ``working hard to get on the air`` with Flowing Stream Ministries, of course including Rick Wiles` so-called TruNews`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)`` (Glenn Hauser, May 25, 2018, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 12105, May 25 at 0113, weak VP S7-S9 music --- must be WTWW-3 reactivated, but barely propagating. Yes, I barely make it // 5085 WTWW-2 which is S9+30, with Ted breaking for a commercial, and flanked by the plus/minus 12.9 kHz spur carriers. And WTWW-1 is also running on 5830 with SFAW at S9+30. So all three transmitters are on the air at once! Remains to be heard whether 12105 will now be regular, or as before, vanish again after a test(?) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
