Glenn Hauser logs April 17-18, 2018

** CUBA. 6140, April 17 at 0627, RHC in English, very weak, S2, new frequency? Yes and no: it must be a leapfrog mixing product of 6060 over 6100 another 40 kHz higher; I do not recall hearing one here before. Without embargo, it has more modulation than 6165 which is S9; because as usual 6060 is well-modulated; and it runs S9+10/20, while 6100 is less modulated at S9+10/20. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1926, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13700, April 17 at 1405 check, no spur constellation across the 13..3-14.1 MHz range, a day off, but surely will be back soon. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1926, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. RHC on nine frequencies in the 25mb (three of them spurious):
11670, April 17 at 2333, is S9+20 of dead air
11700, April 17 at 2333, weak S7-S9 music
11760, April 17 at 2333, VG S9+20 music
11840, April 17 at 2334, S9+10 but sup-torted, with weak 11830 & 11850 parasites
11880, April 17 at 2335, S9-S9+10 but undermodulated starting `DXers Unlimited`, as Arnie`s voice is very rough today; about near hit by asteroid on Sunday; and Radio Swan. Every spring he goes on and on about RHC`s anniversary May 1 (and earlier Onda Corta Experimental Cubana); living in the past, as The Revolution really has no future. Better audible on // 5040 but more noisy down there.
11950, April 17 at 2336, separate Spanish `Mesa Redonda`, S9+10/20
12000, no signal despite being on the new schedules.
With all those fundamentals there ought to be some leapfrogs:
12020, April 17 at 2355 is the only one I find, JBA with same audio as 11950, but a mixture with 11880 English transmitter, 70 kHz intervals. Something`s always wrong at RHC. Checking a few others, at 2353, 15730 in Portuguese and 15230 is off (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6905-AM, April 18 at 0012, unID pirate music at S9 with ACI from 6905-LSB peskies. At 0030, I find the music on 6910-AM instead, and the peskies are pushed up to 6920 and 6925. 6910 is off at 0036 but some running-water and maybe digital transmission. 6905 is back on at 0037 with snippets of songs, 0043 bird and animal calls, or are they produced by a human? Lots more SFX mixed with music past 0056 at S9+10. Some very brief talk announcements I can`t copy, off at 0114*. Many logs here say the 6905/6910 pirate was Seven Trees Radio:

** U S A. 5896.5-USB, UT Wednesday April 18 at 0008, MARS net headed by NCS387 with much weaker contacts AFA6AG and AFA6TG. I wonder if FCC ordered WWCR off 5890 because of this, besides their banning Brother HyStairical with no replacement; so could it resume that frequency if it wanted to? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1925 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday April 17 at 2330 on WBCQ, 9329.608v-CUSB, fair-good, altho 1926 was available 3.5 hours earlier this week.

WORLD OF RADIO 1926 monitoring: ready in time for first SW broadcasts Tuesday April 17 at 2030 on WRMI 7780 & 9455, poor-fair vs noise levels, and about the same on both at 2130 repeats. I can hardly wait for 7780 to revert to 11580 which will propagate much better on summer days. 13 MHz band across North America would be even better. Next:

** U S A. 9329.608v-CUSB, April 17 at 2322, WBCQ again with good signal today. May be a different transmitter than before; someone reported this as AM instead of CUSB. I find there is still more modulation on USB than LSB, but the carrier is less reduced now.

The programming is now rock music, NOT Overcomer; what happened? Not // 7490v with Alan Sane show; similar music on 5129.817v-AM, maybe same and not exactly synchronized. At 2330, 9330 splits away for one more play of last week`s WOR 1925. After it at 2359, bit of music fill, WBCQ ID and funding promo, and at 0000 April 18, resumes same rock music as on 5129.817, still no BS on either (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5950, April 17 at 1047 I awaken briefly so check for WRMI Oldies on new frequency --- there it is, poorly audible, but inaudible on 9395. So now I know it runs at least from 0300 to 1100, and probably from 0200, the 9-hour gap between previously scheduled programming upon it. However, the April 17 edition of NDXC/Aoki shows Oldies on 5950 only at 0230-0500 daily.

5950, April 18 at 0003, RMI during Jesus stuff from AWR in Spanish, again with heavy SAH. It averages about 8 Hz, but varies a lot due to one or both unstable transmitters and/or propagation. AWR mixes in some music with talk, but I don`t hear any separate modulation from the other carrier. What in the world is it? Iran in Tajik doesn`t start until 0050; maybe that has been expanded. Or my other theory, a second WRMI transmitter, of which they have several otherwise idle (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1926, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7505, April 18 at 0018, no signal from WRNO unless the JBA carrier be its exciter? India is not expected until 0130. WRNO is registered here for any time between 2200 and 1600, not just 0100-1300 as recently expanded. James Branum in OK was hearing it even a few minutes before 2200 on April 15 (unless he meant CDT instead of UT)(Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1926, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
