Glenn Hauser logs August 19, 2014

** BRAZIL. 5990, Aug 19 at 0126, RNA is on tonight // 6180 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 11815, Aug 19 at 0117, R. Brasil Central continues to be absent; surely would be audible if on, like 11855v Aparecida. Last reports I`ve seen of 11815 were on July 31 and Aug 3 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6060 & 5040, Aug 19 at 0106, RHC is in proper language Spanish unlike last night in English. Also on 6070, which is again only a reverb apart from the others instead of a second apart.

6000, Aug 19 at 0600, RHC English is missing, but at 0605 recheck, HM01 is here! The Spanish spy numbers hybridly mixed with digital bursts, as the RHC/DGI transmitter site has its wires crossed worse than usual. By 0609 recheck it`s been fixed, resuming RHC in English. I wonder if a transmitter switch normally occurs at 0600 on 6000 amid the 6-hour English service (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ECUADOR. 6050, Aug 19 at 0106 check, still no signal from HCJB. No replies from anyone whether or not it`s being heard before sunrise from *0825. High time to search the HCJB website for any info about SW being off --- of course, domestically they have AM & FM, so who cares about SW anyway? You`d never know it existed from website. I do find one news story about emergency response to the Aug 12 Quitoquake, but nothing about radio or HCJB:

(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EGYPT. 12070, 11710, 9965, 9315, Aug 19 at 0107 check, again tonight all R. Cairo frequencies are off the air. Would others please check at other dayparts? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GREECE. 9935 // 9420, both good Aug 19 at 0107, ERTOpen is on tonite with Greek music, and apparently 15630 JBA.

BTW, Marty Delfín in Madrid heard 9935 with a mixture of Greek and SPANISH:

``ERT (or what's left of it) in SPANISH and Greek! at 9935.3 kHz August 16 at 2253 UT with announcer in Spanish dedicating Latin ballads by Paulina Rubio, Luis Fonsi, etc., to listeners in Spain. I was surprised to hear Spanish and Latin American music on this frequency at this time but realized that the announcer was actually Greek but very fluent en español. He easily interchanged Spanish with Greek throughout the transmission, much like what the announcers do with English/Chinese on CRI. Signal was fair; it seems they lost some of their transmitter power. Full sheep bell/flute ID at 2300 in Greek. 73s Marty Delfín (Madrid, Spain), DX LISTENING DIGEST`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** IRAN. 12025, Aug 19 at 0113, no signal from VRII, Spanish audible on 9860 and unknown if on 11760, blocked by RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MALI. 5995.0, Aug 19 at 0601, with RHC unexpectedly off 6000, I can check whether the very weak and JBM carrier here, presumably Mali, is off-frequency to hi side like the carrier I have been receiving 5 hours earlier --- no, unseems to be, but there is a SAH from a second station. Only Mali is known to be on 5995 at this hour. Possibly the other one is some mixing product (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 1530, Aug 19 at 0607 UT, KXTD 5 kW ``daytimer`` COL Wagoner is still running all-night with Mexican music, non-ID as ``impactando --- La Qué Buena, 15-30 de AM, Qué Buena!!!!!!``. Altho I habitually check it at least at bedtime, I`m sure it`s just the same from August sunset onward, 0115-1145 UT sunrise; September (if not fixed by then!) 0030-1200 UT. This thing totally blox my access to the other recent all-night 1530 cheaters, KLBW New Boston TX, and KCMN Colorado Springs CO (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OMAN. 9500, Aug 19 at 0114, RSO on proper frequency tonight, Qur`aning (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU. 5980, Aug 19 at 0106, JBA carrier from R. Chaski, in heavy noise (we are between storms at the moment), until cutoff at 0108:28.5*, which is 11 seconds later than one binite ago (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

My previous report had the wrong date on it, Aug 16 instead of 17, here corrected:

** PERU. 5980, Aug 17 at 0104, R. Chaski carrier until 0108:17.5* which is another 6 seconds later than yesterday (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SRI LANKA. 11905, Aug 19 at 0114:46, musical prélude starts on SLBC carrier which came on earlier in this minute, and mistimesignal ends at 0115:18.5, sign-on; fair signal this time. Jose Jacob says this service now closes at 0230 instead of 0330 (every day?) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
