Glenn Hauser logs October 31, 2013

** AUSTRALIA [and non]. 6080, Oct 31 at 1146, R. Australia, weak beam to Asia has CCI, probably CRI Russian, northwestward from Beijing site, as in HFCC B-13, where RA has not bothered to register anything. Thought I would check this following recent one-day appearance of Solomon Islands on 6080 at 0830-0900+ (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [and non]. 9490, Oct 31 at 0052, usual wall-of-noise jamming is reduced to only lite pulse jamming, yet I cannot hear any R. República. Suspect they have made the timeshift early in Europe even tho it`s from the US to Cuba where clox don`t change for another quadriday.

Jeff White just told me it`s still supposed to be at 00-02, but HFCC B-13 shows a 3-hour span from Issoudun, FRANCE, at 00-03 starting 27 Oct; I suspect really to encompass the two different 2-hour spans, i.e. already 0100-0300 instead of 0000-0200, but did not recheck after 0100 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6270, Oct 31 at 0114, RHC Spanish weak but readable, leapfrog of 6060 Spanish over 6165 English fulcrum another 105 kHz higher, but no English audible on 6270 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** INDONESIA. 9526-, Oct 31 at 1348, VOI is missing for the third day in a row. Is it heard at any other dayparts, e.g. in Europe? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KUWAIT [and non]. 21580, Oct 31 at 1245, very poor signal starts to fade in; 1248 Arabic music mixing with another. The understation at 1257 seems // 21690, which fits for RFI FRANCE as scheduled on both at 1200-1300 (and don`t you believe RFI comes back on 21580 with ENGLISH at 1430-1500 as registered in HFCC B-13!!! All SW English was dropped a year or two ago and I don`t believe it`s coming back.)

So Kuwait is on 21580 for a second day, apparently deliberate to evade Spain`s usurpation of 21540 (still there today but barely audible unlike good sig from Kuwait). The geniuses in MOI frequency management have jumped from one frying pan into another; there are plenty of totally open frequencies on 13m, but at least 21580 is unimpeded after 1300. At 1411 recheck, 21580 is still very good in Arabic, and 21540 Spain JBA (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 900, Oct 31 at 1226 UT, XEOK Monterrey, with feature report about ballet, overmodulated and somewhat distorted, typical of this station, 1229 non-ID as ``Es 900 AM`` (really???), 1230 ``reporte de tráfico y clima en 88.9``, 6:33 TC. It`s the relay of 88.9 in México DF as if anyone in Monterrey cared about traffic jams there. DF (direxion finding) fits for MTY, a bit west of due south (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU. 5980, Oct 31 at 0101, R. Chaski carrier detectable, until cutoff at 0102:36.5, which is right on time, 5.5 seconds later than yesterday (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SERBIA [non]. As quickly found via:
http://www.w4uvh.net/hitlist.htm
The IRS B-13 schedule is now up athttp://voiceofserbia.org/program-schedule

Showing the usual one-hour time-shifts, and alleging that it is still broadcasting to North America at 0100-0230, including English at 0130-0200 Tue-Sat, and back on the winter frequency 6190 - except it`s NOT --- no signal at 0110 check Oct 31, just like there has been no signal for months on the A-season frequency 9685. Whom are they kidding? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1693, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN [and non]. 21540, Oct 31 before 1300, weak signal in Spanish, no QRM from Kuwait since REE drove it off yesterday to 21580. 21540 REE is still barely audible at 1411, while the other new frequency, 21630, continues to collide with BBC Hausa via Ascension (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U K [non]. 5875, Oct 31 at 1308, BBCWS with report from Melilla, about porteadoras, poor underpaid women who haul goods across the border with Morocco, and how others sneak into Spanish territory this way. Very good signal today, only a little RTTY on the lo side.

It now appears that BBC is adhering to its HFCC registration to stay on this frequency at 12-14 UT seven days a week; as Aoki accurately listed for A-13, and as we heard it last week, the Thursday frequency via THAILAND used to be 5980, with 5875 really in use only on Sundays and Wednesdays, in a silly attempt to escape ChiCom jamming (which we could never hear anyway); alternating with 5820 and 5840 other days of week, all of which we heard at one time or another during the past few months, but keep checking them in case 5875 be missing again (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1693: first airing will be Thursday Oct 31 at 2101v on WTWW-1 9479; then: UT Friday 0327v on WWRB 3195 (ex-, or maybe // 5050); UT Saturday 0200v on Area 51 via WBCQ 5110v-CUSB; Saturday 0630 & 1430 on HLR 7265-CUSB; Saturday 1500 on WRMI 9955; Saturday 2327v on WTWW-2 9930; UT Sunday 0401v on WTWW-1 5830. Remember from next week all these times shift one UT hour later so people can imagine they are at the ``same`` time by local clox, except in non-DST states (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 3215, Oct 31 at 0057, WWRB back on lower winter frequency instead of 5050, as Dave is on live talking about being on 3195 and 3215, looking for ``reservations`` for winter business, offering 200,000 watts if you want to be on both 3195/3215, and 5050. Says the 3 MHz frequencies are on antenna favoring east of the Mississippi and 5050 for west of the Miss. Getting serious now since more people are listening 5 pm-midnight ET after gardening and harvesting is over. Says WWRB airtime costs half of what that other station on 3215 charges, and delivers more.

He`s really off on a rant and doesn`t notice that it`s 0100 and WWCR has shifted right on time to 3215 with steel drums and programming. Makes a SAH of about 6 Hz, roughly equal strength. He emphasizes that, unlike other stations, WWRB does not insert commercials --- if you buy half an hour, you get 30 minutes. Still colliding at 0103 as he`s talking about ``patriot baloney``, making fun of fear-mongers with silly voices.

Someone must have complained to WWCR because at 0104 they drop carrier for a few seconds as if to check that he`s really on 3215 at the same time putting down WWCR. Then he announces QSY to 3195, and his 3215 finally goes off at 0105*. Retune to 3195: carrier on there at *0105:22, resumes talking at 0105:46, about ``phoney-baloney patriots, spelled PAY-triots --- all you need is to trust in the Lord``, not be fearful that the government is coming to take away your rights, your guns, etc. At 0109 he starts looking for a song he wants to play from a CD, hasn`t found it by 0111; 0113 recheck it`s ``Wonderful Words of Life``. Lou Johnson reports this was going on during most of the previous hour on 3215 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7506.4+, Oct 31 at 0053, WRNO is already on early, while last night it was not on late after 0100 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 670, Oct 31 at 1157 UT, numerous ``Hog-Call`` program promos, 479-area code phone, from KHGZ Glenwood AR; this early, WSCR has to be exactly nulled, but they are close to 90 degrees apart (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 730, Oct 31 at 1159 UT, Korean talk and a couple IDs in passing for ``KKDA``, the letters pronounced in English --- well, of course, since there are no letters in Korean. Then at 1200 full legal ID in English for Dallas Korean Radio, and one tone/timesignal. Allegedly there is no requirement that legal IDs really be in English.

A few minutes later, I was hearing some Vietnamese on 870, another Metroplex language, from KFJZ Fort Worth (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 820, Oct 31 at 1200 UT, WBAP with legal ID mentions 820,  99.5 HD2 and KPLX HD2. Sounded like three separate ``stations``, but KPLX is the one on 99.5 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1370, Oct 31 at 1211 UT, as I tune in, ``Memories 13-70 AM,``, WTTN(?) or something similar, definitely a W-call; poor with CCI and splash from local 1390 KCRC, peaks from ENE? Looking fuzzily thru NRC AM Log for resembling calls on 1370, the closest is NOStalgic WCCN in Neillsville WI, ``America`s Best Music``. Then Googling on ``Memories 1370 AM``, that indeed leads to WCCN, subsidiary of a rock FM outlet:
http://cwbradio.com/  FCC shows 5000/42 watts, so it is sunrise yet in central Wisconsin? No, 1215 UT in October, 1300 in November, but they do have a PSRA of 500 watts which would be in effect (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** VATICAN. 21560, Oct 31 at 1259, some station in Italian, then ``Laudetur Iesus Christus`` and `Radio-Giornale` from R. Vaticana, which is now scheduled here daily at 1300-1320 toward the south. Keeping the local language on SW unlike Rai; fair signal (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. TP carrier search Oct 31 at 1151: JBA on 612, 702, 882 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 880, Oct 31 at 1223-1225+ UT, audio of a couple of syllables and rumble caught in a loop over and over for more than two minutes, interrupted by one IAD. Roughly east/west with KRVN nulled, and very likely KLRG AR, altho KHAC NM can also make it (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 5055, Oct 31 at 0054, weak Spanish here; thought would be leapfrog of 5025 Cuba over 5040 Cuba another 15 kHz higher, but not // either; maybe SSB mode, and also a JBA carrier which could really be the leaper (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 5805, Oct 31 at 1312-1313* open carrier of fair strength; wonder what? Except for far-out 5745 VOA Radiogram, HFCC B-13 has 5810 WEWN as the lowest frequency SWBC registered in this band (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Glenn Hauser logs October 29-30, 2013

** ANTARCTICA [non]. 15476, Oct 29 at 2029, no signal detectable from LRA36, tho others closer report it is still active. Now the adjacent QRM from 15480 in B-13 HFCC is AWR Arabic 250 kW, 350 degrees via MADAGASCAR. That signal is fair with flutter, but JBM talk and music; 2051 ID ``Huna Idha`at ---`` algo when I had not yet looked it up, and off at 2058:10*. AWR is likely to be more of an obstacle here than BBC in Arabic via UAE/Oman was on 15480 during the same span in A-13 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ARGENTINA [and non]. 11711-, Oct 30 at 0511, poor signal, deep fades, with tangoish song, 0512 Spanish announcement. On signature off-frequency, has to be RAE/Radio Nacional on the air much later than usual in their night-middle, why? Much weaker than neighbor 11780 Brasil. Also het from something on 11710 altho per HFCC B-13 this is a semi-hour break between Romania and Japan usage. In A-13, CRI/Albania was there all-hour. By 0530, not much but the het is left (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 11780, Oct 30 at 0514, RNA bigsig but music distorted and with wobbly carrier (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. Firedrake [non] CNR1 jamming, October 30 before 1300:
12370, poor with flutter at 1257; no full search this hour

CNR1 jamming, October 30 before 1400:
9200, fair at 1338 with flutter
9530, good at 1339 mixing with IBB Chinese via Philippines // 9200

CNR1 jamming, October 30 after 1400:
15520, Oct 30 at 1425, with CCI, // 12045 but not synchronized. This is presumably against V. of Tibet via MADAGASCAR, altho not in HFCC B-13, unfound anywhere at this hour.

In A-13, the 1400-1430 VOT would start on 15525, draw the jammer, then at 1408 jump to 15520, leaving the jammer behind. Now the modulation stops after timesignal at 1430 but carrier stays on a while (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11760, Oct 30 at 0058, RHC VG signal level, but with BFO can tell the carrier is slightly wobbling; at least it is not putting out a panoply of spurs at multiples of 52.5 kHz displacement, as it was 23 hours earlier.

There is also a LAH on 11760, probably R. Cairo, as HFCC B-13 shows ERU is now scheduled at 2330-0200, 250 kW, 286 degrees from Abis at 2330-0200 in Arabic and Spanish --- certainly an awful choice for them, and for RHC, but what else is new?

17580, Oct 30 at 1349, only RHC audio here, no R. Progreso mix; at 1424 the CCI is still from one of IBB`s Afghan services via Biblis, GERMANY (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) See also SPAIN

** EGYPT. 11760: see CUBA

** GREECE. 9420, Oct 30 at 0100, Avlis is still on, VG signal with W&M talk in Greek, music; stronger than // 7475 at 0112 which has some SSB QRM, perhaps from MARS. 9420, again Oct 30 at 0518, W&M with ``Kalimeras``, mentioning Facebook, // 7475 which has lower modulation level (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GUAM. 5765-USB, Oct 30 at 1304, still no signal from AFN, 41 days after last heard. Now I have a preliminary reply from AFN. It`s off because due to some kind of upgrade: ``the AFRTS's decoder has been turned off at Guam; therefore no signal comes to HFGCS system`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** INDONESIA [non]. 9526-, Oct 30 at 1339, no signal from VOI. Per
http://rri.jpn.org it was also missing Oct 29, no info yet for today. At least there`s nothing on 9525 to block now at this hour. But as usual in B-season, plenty of ACI from the China radio war on 9530, caused by IBB Chinese via PHILIPPINES at 10-15 with CNR1 jamming // 9200 vs Sound of Hope (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** IRAN. 11720, Oct 30 at 1252, IRIB IS, 1253 NA, Qur`an, fair with flutter. It`s the Urdu sesquihour, 500 kW, 118 degrees from Kamalabad (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** JAPAN. 5910, Oct 30 at *1330, Shiokaze signing on in Japanese after open carrier, fair signal. No North Korean jamming audible here (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KURDISTAN [non]. 11600, Oct 30 at 1343, good signal with flutter during phone-in, the caller harder to hear, presumed Kurdish, as Wolfgang Büschel reports that Denge Mespotamiya has suddenly shifted here from 11510, where nothing is heard any more. I also had something very weak around 0515 on 11600. The new BRB B-13 schedule still had this on 11510 at 04-20, presumably via PRIDNESTROVYE if not partly Bulgaria. I bet one listener complained, ``my radio doesn`t tune down that low``. Unfortunately, per HFCC B-13 Oct 30, several other stations are already on 11600 during that long span including at this hour, IRIB in Japanese, 500 kW, 60 degrees from Kamalabad at 1320-1420! Not a good move for VOM (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KUWAIT [and non]. 21540, Oct 30 at 1350, no signal here, just Spain which usurped the frequency Oct 27. At first I suspect Kuwait has moved to 21505 to mix with messy Saudi Arabia, but then find strong Qur`an on 21580 at 1401. Since Kuwait has allowed collisions to go on for months before, it`s hard to imagine them responding to this one in only three days, so 21580 could be a fluke now, as it`s on the MOI schedule earlier at 10-12 UT for the Filipino service (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 820, Oct 30 at 1239 UT, ballad, then 6:39 TC, ``Radio ---algo--- Occidente`` ID as 89.3 FM. No problem from WBAP which was in a fade, then back up but still nullable. That nails it as per Cantú:
820 XEUDO Radio UdeO (Univ de Occidente) + FM 89.3 Los Mochis, Sin. 1,000 250
Except, Sinaloa should now be on MST = UT -7, i.e. 5:39 am, per
http://www.worldtimezone.com/time-mexico12.php
Maybe automation had not been reset? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PAPUA NEW GUINEA. 3905, Oct 30 at 1302, steady weak AM carrier here amid SSB QRhaM, presumably NBC New Ireland still active. By this time, no PNG carriers audible on 90m, probably most of them already off (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU. 5980, Oct 30 at 0053, R. Chaski carrier, until cutoff at 0102:31* which is 11 seconds later than 48 hours ago (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** RUSSIA [and non]. 5885, Oct 30 at 1306, talk in Asian language, poor signal with het. HFCC B-13 shows this is now VOR in English/Hindi/Urdu at 12-17, 100 kW, 137 degrees from Dushanbe, TAJIKISTAN. Modulation sounds as crummy as 11530 did in A-13, likely same transmitter (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SAUDI ARABIA. 21505, Oct 30 at 1355, messy signal from BSKSA with humbuzz, 1356 Saudi ID in Arabic; 1400 6-pip TS, the last prolonged (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 15325, Oct 30 at 1348, Brother Scare, fair with flutter, new frequency, probably from Germany or Bulgaria. Is it on
http://www.overcomerministry.org/ homepage? Of course not! It is however in today`s HFCC B-13, as 12-14, 100 kW, 85 degrees from Nauen, GERMANY (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) See also USA: WBCQ

** SPAIN [and non]. 6125, Oct 30 at 0521, CCI under RHC English is REE Spanish, // 9535. In A-13 Spain went off 6125 by 0500, so no collision. Now it`s registered until 0600. Another item for Arnie to deal with since he refuses to participate in HFCC, and REE could be unaware of what RHC is doing.

21540, Oct 30 at 1350, REE appears to have driven Kuwait off this frequency, but could be just a fluke: see KUWAIT.

21630, Oct 30 at 1421, REE is still colliding with BBC Hausa via ASCENSION (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TUNISIA [and non]. 7275, Oct 30 at 0519, IWT is back on in Arabic talk, music, after missing yesterday. Much weaker than 7295 Algeria/FRANCE (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [non]. 12105, Oct 30 at 1427, IBB Burmese with good signal, 100 kW, 310 degrees from SAIPAN, with WTWW not on to block it (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5110v-CUSB, Oct 30 at 0103, a classic Paul Harvey commentary, ``If I was the Devil``; presumably part of this week`s `Fred Flintstone Music Show`, which has been appearing for weeks during this hour UT Wednesdays. Altho his politix were way out there, I had just been lamenting that there`s no PH to be heard on the caradio at noon any more, not even a PH Junior (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 3195, Oct 30 at 0106, WWRB is back on winter frequency, ex-5050, with spooky `Planet X` show. This will also affect WORLD OF RADIO UT Fridays at 0327v this week --- 0427v from next week. Check both for a while, as previously WWRB would sometimes simulcast, firing up otherwise idle third transmitter.

HFCC B-13 shows 3195 this week with WWRB from 0100, next week from 0200; 3195 this week with WWCR until 0100, next week until 0200.

And 3215: WWRB until 0100 this week, until 0200 next week; WWCR from 0100 this week, from 0200 next week. Why don`t the two just pick one frequency or the other rather than swap around? A mystery, but it keeps loggers on their toes (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7490, Oct 30 at 0112, WBCQ is off when Brother Scare would ordinarily be heard. For giggles, let`s see what TOM homepage says:
http://www.overcomerministry.org/
``WBCQ 7590 8Pm-11Pm EST`` --- wrong frequency and wrong timezone. It also puts WRMI on 9990, several obviously wrong timespans, etc. See also SOUTH CAROLINA [non] (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7285-AM, Oct 30 at 0113, AM contacts involving WA1HLR, the unmistakable but belchless voice of the TimTron, i.e. per ARRL lookup: ``Smith, Timothy M, WA1HLR, 49 Tower Drive, Skowhegan, ME 04976``. Usual bigsig like on 80m-AM; unknown whether operating from home location in mid-Maine or WBCQ site in Monticello, 140 miles away; but with WBCQ missing from 7490, could have been hooked up to its antenna for a little more gain (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7506.4+, Oct 30 at 0112, WRNO is gone again (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** VATICAN [and non]. 9645, Oct 30 at 0517, Arabic from Vatican Radio, with het on hi side from R. Bandeirantes, Brasil. Off by 0529. Now that VR is back on God`s Time, the Latin+ mass on 9645 has shifted one real hour later to start at 0630 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. TA carrier search Oct 30 at 0048-0053: 549, 693, 774, 783, 792[vs WBBM IBOC], 873, 882, 891, 909, 1152, 1206, 1215, 1377, 1422, 1521, 1557. Mark Connelly pointed out that by accumulated power, my previous log of 774 would most likely be the RNE Spain synchros adding up to some 400 kW (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. TP carrier search Oct 30 at 1234: 747 is JBA, no others found in the area (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 930, Oct 30 at 1250 UT, country music with WKY OKC tightly nulled. Per NRC AM Log 2013, the *only* two USA/Canadian C&W format stations on 930 are both likely within range from here, KAFF Flagstaff AZ, and KRKY Granby CO (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9775, Oct 30 at 1342, open carrier with good signal. What will this be? Finally enlivens at 1400 with a bit of martial music, and assertive announcement by YL in Korean; no jamming audible. Thought it might be one of the clandestines from Japan which are on a new schedule, but not including 9775 per Sei-ichi Hasegawa. Nor is 9775 on Voice of Korea`s new schedule per Arnulf Piontek. Not in HFCC B-13 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 13680-SSB, Oct 30 at 1346, 2-way Spanish intruder, typical Mexican colloquial intonation (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 15151-SSB, Oct 30 at 1426, 2-way Spanish intruder on one of their favorite SWBC channels (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 21500-SSB, Oct 30 at 1421, 2-way Spanish intruder again heard here today (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

KBS World Radio is first to use innovative DRM/AM Hybrid transmission through WRN Broadcast

WRN Broadcast has today announced that the company will be enabling KBS World Radio to provide a one hour daily transmission in German using an analogue-digital 20kHz simulcast mode of the Digital Radio Mondiale system via a shortwave transmitting station in Sofia, Bulgaria. Broadcasting from 27th October 2013, the daily transmission will be at 1900 to 2000 UTC (2000 to 2100 local time, in Germany) when listeners with a DRM receiver will be able to hear the broadcast in high audio quality on 5875kHz while listeners with a conventional analogue set will be able tune their radio to 5885kHz. David Treadway, CEO, WRN Broadcast, says "This mode of transmission was defined early in the development of DRM but has seemingly never before been operated for a regular broadcast service. This is another great example of how WRN Broadcast's world-class expertise continues to support our clients' broadcast ambitions." Based in Seoul, KBS World Radio has been working with WRN Broadcast for the past 20 years. KBS discussed the possibility of providing a DRM transmission to Germany but WRN Broadcast believed it would gain a larger audience if it could use both analogue and digital transmission and saw the efficiency of placing both within 20kHz. The transmission, targeted at Germany, Austria and Switzerland, will be made from Sofia, Bulgaria where WRN Broadcast first installed DRM transmission hardware in 2003. The station is owned by Spaceline, which has subsequently invested in further DRM equipment. WRN Broadcast has also previously operated a local trial DRM transmission in the London area on 26MHz. KBS broadcasts globally in 11 languages and 2013 marks its 60th anniversary

1350 kHz RADIO ORIENT IS CLOSED

Our contact friend in Nice report the 1350 kHz operated from Fontbonne has been closed down
for economic problems !
The main studio is in Paris, the WEB is working http://www.radioorient.com/programmes
The other frequency in Nimes 1602 kHz it seems is active ??
So 1350 kHz is now free and you may get distant signals ! Saverio De Cian has already got some very good DXs !

Bonsoir ,

A bientôt,
73's
Christian.

** ALBANIA. 7425, Oct 29 at 0245, R. Tirana confirmed here midway thru English broadcast, fair and in the clear for 0230 UT Tue-Sun (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ALBANIA [and non]. 7220, Oct 29 at 0546, this time I can make out some weak CCI under ROMANIA, confirming the collision of CRI English relay during the entire 05-06 hour (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BANGLADESH. 15105, Oct 29 at 1254, Bangladesh Betar poor with flutter, S-Asian accented English mentioning tubal ligation and Bangladesh; ionosonde sweeps by. March music theme, 1256 YL addresses Dear Listeners, fills with rap; 1259 sign-off announcement with mailing address, brief tone, OC and off shortly after 1300* (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. Firedrake [non] CNR1 jamming Oct 29 before 1400:
15375, good with echo. Target here is IBB Tibetan ``Bod`` dialect at 12-14 via Tajikistan, unheard; also 11-12 via UAE.
15550 & 15570, poor at 1352 with sidehets de V. of Tibet, TAJIKISTAN
15970, very good at 1353 with flutter; none in 14s, 16s, 17s, 18s
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [and non]. 11812.5, Oct 29 at 0141, filthy blob with squeal, traces of distorted modulation, making het against 11815-Brasil. Then I search the 25mb for more of them and find: 11707.5. That nails the source as 11760 RHC, halfway between them at 52.5 kHz separations. 11760 itself sounds OK except for some hum and weak SAH from CCI.

How about second- and third-order spurs at further multiples of 52.5 away? There they are, progressively weakening but same blobsound:
11655 & 11865, plus and minus 105 kHz
11602.5 & 11917.5, plus and minus 157.5 kHz, QRM PAKISTAN Qur`an 11600
11550 weakest & not audible on 11970, plus and minus 210 kHz

17580, after yesterday morning`s mixture of RHC and R. Progreso, I`m checking again Oct 29 from 1219: too weak JBA carrier this early, altho 17595 Spain is already making it. At 1251, 17580 has improved enough to tell it`s // 9850 RHC, and no second signal heard.

At 1355, now RHC about Alicia Alonso, an echo apart from // 13780 via the other site, has fast SAH and non-Spanish CCI from algo on 17580, i.e. per HFCC, IBB Biblis, GERMANY in Pashto/Dari at 1330-1530; same at 1427; at 1430 a brief break in the CCI, maybe switching antenna or transmitter? Tho no difference shown in HFCC, just a language change (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** IRAN. 17500, Oct 29 at 1427, Qur`an on poor signal, 1430 seems Arabic talk, very poor. HFCC shows this is new for IRIB, 500 kW, 259 degrees from Kamalabad, Arabic at 1020-1620 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 6185, Oct 29 at 0547 classical guitar, fair signal from XEPPM, sufficient modulation but ACI from 6180 Brasil. Now that DF is off DST, R. Educación stays on a real hour later until 0600v* (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OMAN. 9500, Oct 29 at 0138, Qur`an on poor-fair signal, presumed RSO as now scheduled ex-9760 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ROMANIA. 17530, Oct 29 at 1253, RRI English is fair with deep fades, while it was not making it a semihour earlier. Now it`s the sports segment of absolutely no interest (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SAUDI ARABIA. 21505, Oct 29 at 1356 good signal from the Buzzing Service of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; still so at 1432 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN [and non]. REE`s frequency mismanagement makes it collide with not one but two other stations on the 13m band, which is replete with open channels. There is NO excuse for this!

21630, Oct 29 at 1257, REE IS is not // with 21610 which is in programming. By 1300 they are //. At 1357, now 21630 has CCI from tone, 1359 BBC Hausa signing on. Still colliding at 1424 check; 21630 is clear again at 1433 after BBC Ascension is finished, and now can hear a long/short path echo from Spain here and also 21610. By 1614 recheck, WHRI is bigsig ending Midnight Cry, and can`t hear any Spain underneath, maybe really off by 1600, but WHRI allegedly starts at 1500 on weekends.

21540, Oct 29 at 1357, REE is also back on this frequency! Despite KUWAIT; hear REE underneath Qur`an, making fast SAH with it and // 21610, the only clear frequency. Same at 1424, but only Kuwait at 1614. You may recall that REE collided for several seasons with Kuwait on 21540, before finally moving to 21515, which has now been abandoned. Old habits die very hard, resuming previous B-season usage regardless of the consequences (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SRI LANKA. 11905, Oct 29 at 0140, open carrier/dead air with flutter, so SLBC is vying with AIR on how much to mess up their own morning broadcasts (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TUNISIA. 7275, Oct 29 at 0545, IWT is missing. Ivo Ivanov just reported that the 7275 broadcast time had changed slightly from 0457-0556 to: 0502-0602; but not today (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [non]. 9800, Oct 29 at 1309, VOA Korean via Tinang, PHILIPPINES is now here in B-13, ex-15775 in A-13; VG signal but modulation is somewhat suppressed and distorted. OK modulation on // 7235 and synchronized despite being from other site TINIAN, NMI (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 860, Oct 29 at 1229 UT, country song, not daily polka which I must have just missed, from KKOW Pittsburg KS; 1230 break of about a semiminute interrupting song before comes back on, slightly stronger. Must be official sunrise time for night/day change, from 5 kW direxional SW including plenty toward Enid, to 10 kW ND daytime. Yes, per FCC:
Oct 1230-2345
Nov 1300-2315
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 920, Oct 29 at 1233 UT, `Huckaby Report` ending, as wacko far-right extremist appears on lots of stations at 1230; is it KVEL, Vernal, Utah again? No, Lamar mentioned, so it`s just KLMR in SE CO. Local announcer exhibits excessive expressiveness about weather and farm conditions; KYFR Iowa nulled, where Harold Camping can still be heard, but often with serious sacred music (as opposed to gospel rock, soul) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1060, Oct 29 at 1239 UT, `Scott Luther`s Gold and Silver Express`, infomercial pushing coin purchases (if such a hedge against paper-money, why doesn`t he hoard instead of sell them, amassing paper or imaginary money instead?). Dominant signal from NW/SE which means either WLNO or KRCN. This matches the Radio Colorado Network schedule for 6 am weekdays at
http://1060thebiz.com/krcn/KRCN-Programming-Schedule--a-6.asp
which is a neat homepage with an old console radio design, complete with stuck toggle switches.

KRCN Longmont CO is 50000/111 watts, with PSRA of 500. Certainly sounds to me like 50 kW already, long before sunrise. At this time, hardly anything from 10 kW daytime 1060 cheater KIJN Farwell TX (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic carriers, Oct 29: on caradio hearing strong 1-kHz het on 910, at 0120, so as soon as I am back on the porch with DX-398, full scan finds all these past 0130, not necessarily in this order: 531, 585, 603, 693, 774, 783, 873, 882, 909, 954, 1044, 1053, 1089[off-frequency, birdie?], 1151, 1215, 1377, 1494, 1521.

Another check inside with the DX-398 at 0554-0600: 549, 684[vs WSCR IBOC], 693, 774, 882, 891, 909, 954, 1044, 1053, 1152, 1215 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 21500-USB, Oct 29 at 1424, intruders, colloquial Spanish 2-way, not errant hams (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Glenn Hauser logs October 27-28, 2013

** ALBANIA. R. Tirana advises me that they will go back to the originally planned time and frequency for English to North America, 0230-0300 on 7425, after trying 0330 on UT Sunday Oct 27 as B-13 began, colliding with DW via Rwanda (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CANADA. 960, Oct 28 at 0502 UT during another 5-minute `Fox-hole` of dead air on local KGWA, which still occurs more often than not, the best signal I am getting is not by nulling the KGWA carrier, where there`s a jumble of weak stations, but by aiming right thru it to the northwest: with volume turned way up, English is clearly readable with silly ball- and puck-game scores, from MLB and NHL, ID only as ``CBS Sports Radio`` and 0503 opening show ``After Hours with --- Lawrence``.

So it`s obviously 50 kW CFAC Calgary AB again which occasionally makes such a showing contrary to its imaginary direxional pattern away from the USA. Just to confirm, I figured it would take a lot of digging on the network website since American ones tend to overlook Canadian affiliates even if they have them, but
http://radio.cbssports.com/stations/
has CFAC 960 Calgary at the very top thanx to Albertan alfabetical advantage among the mixed-in states & provs. Among the 284 entries (if not that many affiliates, duplications?), there are three other 960s, in NY, OR and WA. Must have flipped from ESPN as in 2013 NRC AM Log, as I assume it and CBS are mux (mutually exclusive) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6000, Oct 28 at 0059, RHC is on in Spanish with Fidel clip, ID, // 6100. At 0106 I notice that 6000 is *still* in Spanish, but also in English! From fading patterns, I can tell that these are two separate transmitters, as dysfunxional RadioCuba left hand doesn`t know what the other left hand is doing, did not turn off Spanish one at 0100. I assume these are from the two different sites; it would be even worse if both are from same site. Meanwhile, the only other scheduled English frequency, 6165, is late coming up, so English is to be heard ONLY, mixed with Spanish, on 6000! I do make out an English ID at 0107 on 6000, but the Spanish sounds louder, better modulation and more assertive than the soft-spoken ``Ed Newman`` in English. Gilles Letourneu also reported this mix at 0108. I didn`t check later, but Dave Marthouse was still hearing the 6000 mix at 0213 and by then 6165 was on in English only.

12000, Oct 28 at 1252, bit of Spanish mixing with Russian from VIETNAM, suspected second harmonic of RHC 6000.

But wait, there`s another screwup: 17580, Oct 28 at 1346, RHC Spanish now has some CCI making a fast SAH, music atop, while other RHCs such as 13780 are in talk. At first I figure some unwary Eastern Hemispherian has landed here for B-13 on the assumption that 17580 would be open, since Arnie refuses to participate in HFCC for fear of running into Yankee Imperialists (and plenty of delegates from countries which have rid themselves of communism).

I sure want to get an ID on this! Then I can tell the song is in Spanish, lyrix ``amor``, segué to another SS song. Checked Spain 17595 in case, but not // that. Could it be another Cuban net? Yes! 1356 mentions Habana Libre, ``Reportero RP``, plug Festival Mundial de la Juventud, a typical Commie event; 1359 refers to Oct 28 being the anniversary of something concerning Camilo Cienfuegos in 1959y, ``Su Reportero RP`` again, then full ID with one chime as ``Radio Progreso Cadena Nacional, la Onda de la Alegría``.

So RP has not only added SW on 4765 in the evenings, but now here too! Unfortunately, already occupied by another RadioCuba transmitter. Probably from the two different sites, yet another example of unparalleled coördination. Will this continue or happen again? Still mixing at 1426, neither heard around 1630; RHC at least would have gone off at 1500. They are still announcing local time as UT -4.

BTW, checking HFCC I see that an unwary station has in fact registered 17580 despite RHC and RP: IBB in Pashto/Persian=Dari, 100 kW, 85 degrees from Biblis, GERMANY at 1330-1530. This might have been part of the mix under the Cubans. We`ll see if Arnie makes any adjustments next week because of this (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [non]. 5980, Oct 28 at 1243, R. Martí is VG with no jamming audible, after news, giving three 305-AC phones and other contact info for a sorteo involving béisbol to win a SW radio. (Like guessing who wins the National Sequence?). // 7405 is jammed as usual, but RM is atop it. Apparently the DentroCuban Jamming Command won`t consult HFCC; else they would know that 5980 has been extended from 0700 to 1300*.

At 1307 I check RM frequencies for what`s happening: 11930, VG with trace of pulse jam; 13830 wall of noise vs nothing; 9805 lighter jamming vs nothing; 7405 RM atop jamming (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** DIEGO GARCIA. 12759-USB, Oct 28 at 0100, AFN is barely audible with broadcast talk, presumably some network news. May have just QSYed from 4319-USB. Meanwhile, I`m still waiting for a reply to my latest inquiry to AFN about the status of GUAM (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GREECE. 7475, Oct 28 at 0054, pop music in Greek, // much stronger 9420, so ERT or whatever is still funxioning on SW in B-13. 9420 is still VG at 0548 in Greek, unlike missing 24 hours earlier (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** INDIA. 11985, Oct 28 at 0051, the wild AIR transmitter is on and just barely modulated with algo, stronger than 11740 which has CCI and I can`t tell if they match; at 0100 I find that 11985 has gone off and 11740 is now poor with music, flutter. These are the two previously scheduled for the 0045-0115 Sinhala service via Khampur and Goa respectively (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** IRAN. 11720, Oct 28 at 1250, IRIB IS, poor, 1253 announcement & NA. Scheduled as Urdu at 1250-1420, via Kamalabad, also // 11675, and Sirjan 9715 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** JAPAN [and non]. 5910, Oct 28 at 1344, very poor signal in Japanese or Korean, interrupted by H2O ute, i.e. Shiokaze, which Ron Howard reported only yesterday finally moved off 5985 where it had been since July(?), altho the jammer was still on 5985, marring Myanmar. But today the jammer caught up with 5910. And Sei-ichi Hasegawa says the 2000-2100 transmission of Shiokaze has been replaced with 1600-1700 on 5975 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MALAYSIA. 5964.7, Oct 28 at 1310, het closest to D4 above middle C on my keyboard, 294 Hz, is the only sign of RTM`s Klasik Nasional program, as it beats against stronger Korean from CRI Xi`an, now scheduled 11-15 UT, plus more from CRI spanning 09-16. On Oct 22, Wolfgang Büschel measured KN on 5964.704, which is only 2 Hz from my indirect method (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 810, Oct 28 at 1208 UT, Spanish news from N/S, 6:08 TC, ad and deportes; no sign of WHB. Presumably XEFW in Tampico, already back on CST, rather than XERI Reynosa in the same direxion, which must still be stuck another week on US CDT. I`ve always found it strange that Tamaulipas should have two 810 stations, especially when one of them is 50 kW along the coast. NRC Pattern Book shows both non-direxional. Then there are lots of other XEs on 810 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 900, Oct 28 at 1214 UT, newscast originating remotely from ``Huatulco``, (Wiki: Huatulco, centered on the town of La Crucecita, is a tourist development in Oaxaca state``), temps around south / central Mexico but not the north, refers to 88.9, time at 1215 as ``seis y cuarto``; federal PSAs including CNDH. Somewhat overmodulated. 1217 CCI grows from another SS with news by YL. The latter could really be XEW, but the former, as in DXLD 13-38, already researched and traced the 88.9 relayer to XEOK, Acir in Monterrey NL (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. Oct 27 at 1900 UT, I have returned to the same location as yesterday, the MW hotspot in a mall parking lot in western Enid. Almost same space, but on Sunday the lot is almost empty if that should make a difference. I`ve timed it to arrive just before hourtop, hoping to get an ID on the 870 station, but conditions are somehow worse than yesterday: all I can detect on 870 at 1902 is a SAH of about 6 Hz. Normally readable 880 KRVN is also very poor.

1220, however, I do copy a definite YL ID at 1900 UT Oct 27 for ``KTLV, Midwest City-Oklahoma City, and streaming on the web at KTLV.com`` amid preachers. Reaffirming my claim to be first to log it for NRC in the XXI Century.

1120, Oct 27 at 1902 UT check, KEOR Catoosa is back on the air with gospel huxtering in Spanish (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OMAN. 9760, Oct 27 & 28 around 0100, no signal from RSO where it had been in latter A-13, nominally at 00-02.

We can check HFCC B-13, but R. Sultanate of Oman always registers a whole bunch of wooden frequencies, including several at the same time even tho they are never heard on more than one frequency at once. Only two azimuths are shown, 220 and 315 degrees, the latter good for us. At 00-02, only 9500 is shown, so look for it there during this bihour.

I was going to pull out the full imaginary schedule, but too much trouble; instead, here are just all the 30 possible frequencies at various times during the 24 hours: 7260, 7360, 7375, 7435; 9500, 9540, 9730, 9740; 11670, 11975; 13590, 13600, 13620, 13675, 13775; 15140, 15350, 15355, 15560, 15595, 15630, 15760; 17530, 17565, 17580, 17590, 17595, 17700, 17830, 17870 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU. 5980, Oct 28 at 0050, JBA carrier from R. Chaski and marred by totally uncalled-for Cuban pulse jamming. Yet with BFO I am still able to copy enough signal to time the cutoff at 0102:20* which is 5.5 seconds later than yesterday (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ROMANIA [and non]. 7210, Oct 28 at 0553, RRI closing Russian service reciting entire schedule including satellite info, but with CCI from something. Oops! HFCC B-13 shows not only Tiganeshti at 0530-0600, but also CRI in Arabic via ALBANIA at 05-07! Didn`t collision alarm bells go off from the HFCC computer in Bratislava? Apparently not, perhaps due to non-overlapping CIRAF zones, but in the real world, they`re bound to QRM each other in the targets, not just here.

7220, Oct 28 at 0552, RRI is also here 10 kHz away with much stronger VG signal, rock in English, Actualitatsi ID (the #1 home service often relayed on SW; if you can`t put a tsedilla under the last T in the word, you must replace it with ts). Per HFCC 7220 is also colliding during this hour with CRI English via Albania, but if so, it`s buried.

Axually, I was hunting for TWR Polish at 0544, which in A-13 was on 7225 at 0544-0559; but now of course it`s shifted an hour later, trying to fool the Poles into thinking there`s been no time change, but frequency per HFCC has moved to 7300 on the 300 degree beam from Austria, which is not toward Poland, still // 5910 at 30 degrees, which is.

17840, Oct 28 at 1403, RRI with English clips during Romanian news, but SAH and CCI from a station with music. HFCC B-13 reveals: both RRI Galbeni in Rumanian at 1300-1500; and IRIB Zahedan in Arabic at 0520-1420, thus overlapping 1300-1420! Azimuths from respective sites are within 4 degrees of each other, 289 from Iran and 285 from Romania, altho the CIRAFs are different, which again facilitates yet another HFCCollision. There are plenty of free channels on 16m (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** RUSSIA [non]. 12075, Oct 28 at 1303, fair signal with news, then weather for London, New York and Chicago, so must be V. of Russia: yes, ID with music in passing as Radio VR, then fuller Voice of Russia. In B-13 this is at 12-15 UT, 500 kW, 155 degrees from Dushanbe, TAJIKISTAN, apparently replacing 11530 in A-13, but with none of the hum which infested 11530 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U K [non]. 11895, Oct 28 at 1253, BBCWS in English is fair-good here, with `Outlook` until cutoff at 1259:30. It`s 250 kW, 25 degrees from THAILAND, so also USward, plus previous hour at 45 degrees (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5085, UT Mon Oct 28 at 0052, WTWW-2 is on with ``Martha Garvin`s Musical Memories``, amateur hymn-singer and pianist, who availablizes her program to several US SW stations. Usual huge signal here and spreading beyond 5085. Also back on the air are 5830 WTWW-1 with SFAW and 12105 WTWW-3 with Bible in Spanish, after all being silent earlier on Sunday.

12105, Oct 28 at 1305, WTWW canned ID by Ted, then Russian Bible; VG signal and no CCI audible, totally burying RFA SAIPAN in Myanmarianese. So during the Week of Confusion, WTWW is still *1300v on 12105 instead of B-13 schedule from *1400 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGSET)

** U S A. 6115, Oct 28 at 0058, WWCR bigsig with rock music, ex-6875, now scheduled 21-01 UT, and after the Week of Confusion, from Nov 3 at 21-02. That opens another few frequencies for the pirates (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 930, Oct 28 at 1220 UT, what`s to be heard with WKY OKC nulled now? News in English, mentions wpr.org, funding plugs, Wisconsin weather, YL host, local, not NPR, talk show with guest Bill Krause(?). It`s WLBL Auburndale in the center of WI, on the WPR Ideas Network, 5000/70/500 watts, non-direxional (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1510, Oct 28 at 1228 UT, same promo twice for HOT, Tuesdays at noon, = Happiness, Opportunity, Technology. Presenter John Barnabas sounds British. Apparently a recent reordering as on website it`s T-O-H. An ID followed for ``Money Radio 1510 & 99.3 FM`` = KFNN Mesa AZ, 22000/100 watts. Dominant signal from the west. Hmmm, I wonder which power is in use now, long before sunrise? Has fast SAH from algo; then US Tax Relief ad (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** VIETNAM [non]. 6175, Oct 28 at 0105, VOV English via Woofferton UK confirmed here ex-12005, only fair signal at best and with ACI from 6180 Brasil. Why in the world don`t they just use WHRI for the 0100 and 0230 English as well as the 0330? Wherever it`s aimed, WHRI would be much better for us than way-off Woofferton. The only advantage of WOF would be filling relatively close areas in the HRI skipzone around SC.

Meanwhile, what`s on 12005 now? SW Asian language mentioning Pakistan, better than VOV 6175. HFCC shows IBB in Pashto, 340 degrees from SRI LANKA (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. TP carrier search Oct 27 at 1157: JBA on 702 from south of due west; 774 from northwest. 702 presumably 2BL Sydney NSW, whose true bearing is 251 degrees at 13860 km [date correct, overlooked for previous report] (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9760, Oct 28 at 0552, American songstress soulfully singing ``I`m So Lonely, I Could Die``, poor-fair signal. Would expect this to be R. Nikkei 2 from JAPAN, except I am not getting anysig from Nikkei 1 on 9595. HFCC shows also during this hour, an IBB Kurdish service via Nauen, Germany, which could propagate, but hard to imagine such programming on it (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9765, Oct 28 at 0055 past 0100, no signal nor panoply of distorted spurs as heard 24 hours earlier. Would sure like to find out what that was (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Glenn Hauser logs October 27, 2013

** ALGERIA [non]. 9535, Oct 27 at 0526 is now REE in Spanish running at least an hour longer instead of RTA via France; which is still on 7295 at 0531 and reactivated non-// 5865 at 0534. What does HFCC say?

All these are dated for the entire B-13 season via ISSoudun:
04-07 5865
05-06 7295
18-19 11955 (both transmitters)
19-20 9390
19-21 11775
20-2158 9395
21-23 9520, 7340, 7495 (really on only two of the three or four?)

Furthermore, searching HFCC file on TDA finds they are *still* registering imaginary transmissions from the two sites within Algeria itself, ORG and BEC on all these frequencies; if you ever hear RTA on any of them it will be big news that those sites have finally been completed and put on the air: 5925, 5995, 7250, 7265, 7335, 7340, 9490, 9600, 9615, 11650, 11655, 11690, 11715, 11770, 11830, 11965, 15220 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BANGLADESH. 15505, Oct 27 at *1357:16 carrier quickly adding tone; 1358:32 to Bangladesh Betar IS but JBA, as is the timesignal ending at 1400:06.5 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CANADA. 620, Oct 27 at 1202 UT, dominant signal is not XEBU Chihuahua (not on the air yet due to timechange?), but something in English news, ``This is Canadian Press``, then CFL scores; 1204 another Canadian Press ID, ad for J. D. Sausage Supply in Regina; 1205 6-20 CKRM Weather and into ESPN network. CKRM Regina is 10 kW with day and night patterns about the same, broadly to the north with tiny lobe to the south. This is no tiny lobe I am getting to the SSE. Whatever became of CKCK? It`s no longer an AM call anywhere (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA. Firedrake [non] CNR1 jamming, October 27 before 1400:
16450, good at 1351 with heavy flutter during Chinese pop music
16100, same as 16450; none in the 17s, 15s except 15265, nor 14s
13530, fair at 1354; none in the 12s
Lots more earlier all over the 7 and 6 MHz bands
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 17580, 15340, 11860, 11760, etc., Oct 27 at 1336, RHC starts `En Contacto`, the edition publicized for the last 2-3 months featuring ``War of the Worlds`` with a special QSL. Opens with usual birthday greetings, and the WotW segment lasts only 5 minutes, 1339-1344: hardly a complete version, but some clips of the original in English, voiced over in Spanish summarizing what happened.

Meanwhile on nearby 17595, plus 21610, 21630, see SPAIN, `Amigos de la Onda Corta` is about the same thing with a longer segment! These conflicting DX programs a great example of both stations looking inward rather than outward. Yet, RHC`s next feature is *about* Spain`s fellow DX program, with its email address cited twice lacking an @: ``amigosdxrtve.es`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [non]. 5980, Oct 27 at 1143, Catholic prayer mentioning Papa Francisco, and then into Lord`s Prayer --- can Greenville have put Vatican Radio by mistake on this as well as 7305 (prolonged into B-13)? No, it`s not //, so really R. Martí programming, blatantly violating separation of church and state and opening the USG to justified demands from all other sects for equal airtime! I`m just waiting for this issue to wind up in court. VG signal and NO jamming audible on 5980 unlike 6030 buried in wall-of-noise. The DentroCuban Jamming Command will take a while to adjust to B-13 scheduling, and then will certainly over-do it massively (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GREECE. 9420, Oct 27 at 0525, V. of Greece is off the air and not on 7475/7450 either. So no Byzantine chanting this Sunday. Start of the B-13 season might be an obvious point to turn Avlis off forever, altho the chaos in Greece would contraindicate such precision. Or is it just due to end of DST there, not here? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GUATEMALA. 4055, Oct 27 at 1139, R. Verdad is not on yet this Sunday, altho last Sunday Oct 20 it was on at 1150. I should have rechecked a bit later this week (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** JAPAN [non]. 9770, Oct 27 at 0529, ``Goodbye, friends`` and full new NHK English schedule which now takes less than a minute to read (omitting sites), only five transmissions left. But this is a good signal via FRANCE from 0500, and probably our best bet for NHK World Radio Japan if we care to stay up that late. But why should we? NHK doesn`t want us to listen in North America (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO [and non]. 700, Oct 27 at 1208 UT, English preacher about Corinth, presumably WLW, with hum in the background, presumably supplied by XEGD Parral, Chihuahua as usual (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO [and non]. 720, Oct 27 at 1211 UT strong open carrier vs WGN with a SAH, probably XEJCC Juárez (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 970, Oct 27 at 1225 UT, XEJ Juárez slogans as ``La estación de nuestro México``, then ``La Jota mexicana``, and a corrida about a Chihuahua general in 1920; good usually dominant signal (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 1300, Oct 27 at 1235 UT, XEP Juárez with international bridge backup delay times --- one only 5 minutes now. This is a staple of XEP, during drive time, or all the time? At 1237 reminds us the local time is still ``6:35``, not 5:35 as Mexico beyond the border cities has reverted to standard time today: hora normal no aplica en la frontera for another week, in deference to wacky US change date and all the Mexicans who travail across the border (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 2910, Oct 27 at 1140, very poor signal with music, no doubt XEVT Villahermosa, Tabasco, 970 x 3. It takes superb conditions with low noise level for anything from this to be more readable (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NEW ZEALAND. 5950, Oct 27 at *1258:50 with Bell Bird IS, RNZI`s first day on B-season channel, ex-6170 in A-seasons, 1300 news. Initially good signal, but would be a lot better for us lasting longer if they would only use 7 or 9 MHz on the Pacific antenna (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ROMANIA. 17530, Oct 27 at 1254, RRI closing English hour, good signal, with announced // 17765 (poor), 21570 (fair); and frequencies for next English at 1800. It`s only during the Week of Confusion that we in the CDT zone may conveniently listen to propagable English from RRI at 7-8 am local, due to their winter shift to one UT hour later, starting at 1200. From Nov 3 it`s back to 6—7 am by our clox (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 21630, Oct 27 at 1336, REE new here ex-21515, // 21610, about the same poor levels with Antonio Buitrago, `Amigos de la Onda Corta` shifted one hour later to conflict with RHC DX program, and also a segment about ``War of the Worlds`` on 75th anniversary of the original scary CBS broadcast in 1938y. REE better on 17595, but no more Costa Rica frequencies. So will the AdlOC repeat now be at 01 UT Mondays? See also CUBA (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) See also ALGERIA

** SUDAN [non]. 7315, Oct 27 at 0537, VG signal from R. Dabanga, quickly sing-IDing on B-season channel, 250 kW, 146 degrees from VATICAN at 0430-0600 (plus Tamazuj at 0400-0430). Meanwhile, Sudanese continuous tone jamming is still on 15400, abandoned by PNW for the season (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TAIWAN [non]. 11835, Oct 27 at 1335, JBA carrier from presumed PCJ Radio via Sri Lanka, as expected their much-publicized ``War of the Worlds`` special not to be heard in the land of its birth at half a sesquicentury later. And guess what: also the subject at the very same time on *two* other stations, SPAIN and CUBA, qq.vv. (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 9700, Oct 27 at 0527, Turkish music, good signal, ex 11980. As always happens in the B-seasons, we get TRT instead of Romania in the A-seasons at this time on 9700.

12035, Oct 27 at 1334, JBA carrier, presumed VOT as now scheduled in B-13 for English at 1330, ex-15450 at 1230 which was becoming somewhat listenable. 12035 was no good here either in B-12, despite 500 kW, 310 degrees USward, but presumably reaches as far as the UK OK (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U K [non]. 7325, Oct 27 at 0530, headlines from BBCWS; remains VG via ASCENSION, ex-7355 in A-13; only problem is a bit of a het from 7320 Russia. Now scheduled 05-06 at 102 degrees so we are close to off-the-back; too bad they don`t start 7325 at 0400 or 0300 when more North Americans are awake, but Kashgar is on it then. The 05-06 hour remains our best time to hear BBCWS in English, despite no such intention by ex-Bush House. At least it will *seem* an hour earlier once we go off DST in a week.

5875, Sunday Oct 27 at 1303, BBCWS good here with news via THAILAND. HFCC B-13 shows 12-15 daily, 250 kW, 25 degrees also USward from Nakhon Sawan. During A-13 in fact there were three secret alternate frequencies to jump among, depending on day of week, and suspect same will continue in B-13 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1692 monitoring: confirmed starting at 0401:15 UT Sunday Oct 27 on WTWW-1, 5830. Next: Tue 1100 on WRMI 9955; Wed 0630 & 1430 on Hamburger Lokalradio 7265-CUSB (maybe back to full power and tower? Europeans, please confirm) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9830, Oct 27 at 0528, ``Are You Washed in the Blood of the Lamb``, disgusting animal-sacrifice hymn but with nice harmonies on VG signal, must be WHRI. Yes, now registered on 9830 at 05-06 daily, adding 0430-0500 Sat & Sun (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. All three WTWW transmitters are missing, Oct 27. At 1145, no 5830, 5085; at 1304, no 9479, 9930 or 12105 (instead from SAIPAN, RFA to Burma, with something in English, clip or lesson?). Recheck 1525, all three are still absent. I see in HFCC B-13 that 12105 is not supposed to start before 1400, but what about during our Week of Confusion? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 830, Sunday Oct 27 at 1217 UT, WCCO Minneapolis MN, amateur guest on phone with summary of the natural world, from Moon phase to fall colors, what`s being harvested, insect and bird migrations in `CCO-land (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1000, Oct 27 at 1230 UT, ID from ``Christian Radio for New Mexico, KKIM``, Albuquerque, then `Haley`s Comments` show, slow SAH with KTOK OKC; long before sunrise even here to the east, obviously on ND 10 kW day power instead of 38 watts night, or PSRA of 12.2. Frequently audible with KTOK nulled or vice versa (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 740, Oct 27 at 1212, song in Spanish vs KRMG about 6 Hz away (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Glenn Hauser logs October 26-27, 2013

** ALBANIA. 7425, Oct 27 at 0327, R. Tirana IS and 0330 sign-on giving new B-13 schedule, which unfortunately involves a last-minute change for reasons unknown from 0230 to 0330 for the only English broadcast to North America. Unfortunate, since 7425 is also occupied by DW Swahili via RWANDA during this hour, there is severe co-channel QRM, and a fast SAH, the two at about equal level here. I am strongly recommending that if R. Tirana has to be at 0330, it should switch immediately to 7465, a well-known frequency and which is clear of co- or adjacent-channel interference (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** DIEGO GARCIA. 12759-USB, Oct 27 at 0112, AFN weak talk and music, mentions ESPN, ``game this Friday night, BYU vs ---``, so must be playback or review since this is Saturday night = Sunday morning in the BIOT (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** INDIA. 11985, Oct 27 at 0052, AIR this time has a fair-good signal, but open carrier/dead air with some flutter, instead of scheduled Sinhala service; while 11740 via GOA is poor with flutter, CCI. Hoping for that 36-37 note IS on 11985 I heard once, but not even a tone test today, and goes off the air sometime between 0059 and 0100. There is some new ACI from 11980 China in B-13, i.e. +01-02 via Kunming. Nothing on 9910 tonight nor in B-13 schedule, altho AIR was on there last night.

It seems there are NO AIR registrations yet in HFCC B-13, so we have no idea what their plans are, if any. They have been tardy or absent before.

Guess what: HFCC B-13 is full of listings for the defunct WYFR. Didn`t Family Radio tell their frequency manager or FCC not to bother? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6925-USB, Oct 27 at 0118, only pirate signal around 42m is some very weak talk here. A minute later, Joe Farley captured two SSTV IDs as Radio Ga-Ga:
http://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,13436.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU. 5980, Oct 27 at 0055, JBA carrier from R. Chaski, and cutoff comes at 0101:14.5*, or 5.5 seconds later than yesterday (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1692 monitoring: confirmed on WTWW-2, 9930, Saturday Oct 26 starting at 2327:19. Next: 0401v on WTWW-1, 5830 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5085, Oct 27 at 0054, WTWW-2 is missing, while usually on UT Sundays with QSO show; after WOR circa 2356 Oct 26 there was the QSY announcement to 5085, but unchecked whether it really came up by 0000 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7490, Oct 27 at 0116, WBCQ is off, unlike last Saturday night when an old RNI tape was being played during this hour (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7506.4, Oct 27 at 0117, WRNO is off tho certainly still registered in B-13 from 22 to 16 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7555, Oct 27 at 0117, KJES is off, as happens unpredictably, still scheduled 0200-0330 in HFCC B-13 --- but time change from 0100-0230 should not happen here for one more week (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** VIETNAM [non]. 9640, Oct 27 at 0059 and 0108, no sign of VOV English to NAm via Woofferton, as in previous tentative B-13 schedule, despite confirmed deletion of DRM from 9630 Costa Rica. Nor on ex-A-13 channel 12005. Maybe they saw my comment that 9 MHz would be too high for winter, should be on 7 MHz.

Looking up latest HFCC B-13 of Oct 26, I see that they went to 6 MHz instead, in fact their established 6175 channel, which continues via WHRI in English at 0330 --- but now the Woofferton relay in English is also on 6175 at 0100 & 0230, when I did not monitor yet (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. Right after local mean noon, always 1832 UT, on Oct 26 I venture to the low-noise hot-spot parking lot in an Enid mall to do an AM bandscan on the caradio for weakest detectable signals; however there are storms in southern Oklahoma making lightning crashes, the only such area on the continent now:

1220, Oct 26 at 1835 UT, KTLV Midwest City OK, ``clap yo hands`` pentecostal service, then a soul hymn. Tho no ID, I have no doubt it is my closest 1220, very weak, quite on the edge of its range. Adjacent splash from much stronger 1230 WBBZ Ponca City is reduced a bit by a football game instead of mostly music. KTLV is no longer un-reported to NRC DX News.

1200, Oct 26 at 1836 UT, very weak talkshow about cars, 31 mpg. No doubt it`s WOAI San Antonio on groundwave. However, their Saturday schedule shows this should not be on until after 1900 = 2pm:
10AM-2PM The Mutual Fund Show
2PM-3PM Belden Automotive's Under the Hood Show

http://www.woai.com/onair/saturday/#ixzz2istXPGgq
I mustn`t forget that there is a 1 kW daytimer in Bolivar, SW Missouri, which could possibly make it here, KYOO, ``Today`s Best Country``.

1110, Oct 26 at 1839 UT, mainly KFAB in English with a Nebraska ad; SAH of 3.4 Hz, presumably KVTT Mineral Wells TX.

870, Oct 26 at 1830, English station in a game is atop with a SAH of 3.5 Hz. May we assume that KFJZ Fort Worth is 100% Vietnamese? WWL is scheduled for `Tiger Tailgating`, I assume sports-talk. The little 870 daytimers in CO and MO are both listed as Oldies. Of course even music stations are quick to pre-empt it for silly ballgames. WWL or either of those would be a good daytime groundwave catch; need to try again.

720, Oct 26 at 1842 UT, football vs Iowa. Chex with WGN schedule for today, Northwestern vs Iowa. Also SAH of 2.07 Hz, KSAH Universal City TX (San Antonio)? It`s really the only station close enough, 10 kW day power, altho even in the daytime allegedly with a null toward Chicago and mostly toward us.

At 1843 UT, I find *no* skywave activity on the X-band, not even 1700 KKLF Richardson TX --- so surely none of above signals lower in the band are skywave either (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9765, Oct 27 at 0055 and continuing past 0103, roaring motorboating blob of noise, with occasional bursts of modulation which must originally have been speech, totally unreadable. AND accompanied by pairs of weaker spurs at multiples of intervals of close to plus and minus 22.5 kHz, easily detected on:
plus & minus 22.5: 9742.5 & 9787.5, strongest
plus & minus 45.0: 9810 atop weak Cuba; 9720 however is only a clear weak carrier, presumed still Cairo`s totally dysfunxional NAm service

Further pairs are progressively weaker, but same noise detectable:
plus & minus  67.5: 9697.5 & 9832.5
plus & minus  90.0: 9675 & 9855
plus & minus 112.5: 9652.5 & not 9877.5
plus & minus 135.0: finally unheard or too weak (9630 & 9900)

The only thing in HFCC B-13 at this time on 9765 is RRI Pontianak, Indonesia, surely imaginary and no way that is the source. This mess is similar to what was observed one night recently coming from the 9770 Turkey transmitter, Spanish at 0100, but this is no longer the time or frequency for it.

Lack of a blob on 9720 but the Cairo carrier implies that could be involved in this. The other Cairo mess is still on 9965 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Glenn Hauser logs October 26, 2013 [more]

** CUBA. 6165, Oct 26 at 0513, RHC English quite undermodulated and even weaker signal than 6125; 6060 is poor, and 6000 is very good. Just another anomaly to note (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GERMANY. It takes the CQ Worldwide SSB DX Contest to fill up the hambands (not including 12, 17 m) --- Normally hardly anyone ventures above 28500 on 10m, but Oct 26 at 1348-1350 I am hearing a couple of USB Germans as high as 28969, DP9Z, and 29012, DL2IAN both calling CQ Contest with plenty of contacts, plus one US station a little higher.

DP9Z is ``Contestcall of DF9ZP: Hans-Joachim Burger; Südring 24; 64832 Babenhausen; Germany`` per QRZ.com --- condensing call from 6 to 4 characters saves valuable microseconds and inevitably increases score. Since call needs to be spoken fonetikally, he should really try for single-syllable letters instead of two syllables for two of them (if not ``nine-er``; and no escaping ``delta``), e.g. M for mike, G for golf --- in fact those are the only two single-syllabers in the official fonetik alfabet, and several letters are even three-fers. What were they thinking in setting that up?

DL2IAN is: ``Thomas Schenk, Hintergasse 9, 76865 Rohrbach / Pfalz, Germany``. Not even named Ian (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GUATEMALA. 4055, Oct 26 at 1142, R. Verdad in Chinese with musical background. Seems to be regular around this hour, 7:42 pm prime-time for all their listeners in China. But I`m afraid their online program schedule
http://www.radioverdad.org/programaci%C3%B3n
as I copy it, but which shows in the address field with accented-o as
http://www.radioverdad.org/programación
is long-outdated, still showing nothing about Chinese, weekday start at 1100 UT instead of 0930, and El Tren del Evangelio at 1125-1200 --- it`s copyright 2009 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** IRAN. 15300, Oct 26 at 1422, VIRI IS, 1423 opening Hindi, NA, etc., poor with flutter.

13800, Oct 26 at 1425, VIRI not // 15300 but in Russian, fair. Not satisfied with being out of step with most of the world on a :30-minute timezone, official start time of broadcasts is now :23 or :53 past the hours. 13800 is Sirjan, 15300 Kamalabad. For B-13, all frequencies change to lower bands, but odd times remain the same.

The so-called ``Voice of Justice`` English to North America at 0320-0420 will be on Kamalabad 9710 and Sirjan 11770 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DFX LISTENING DIGEST)

** RWANDA [and non]. 15275, Oct 26 at 0524, DW English is inbooming, while no signals on 15190 EqGuinea or 15120 Nigeria. Sometimes Rwanda is not propagating either, but fine tonight (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SPAIN. 21610, Oct 26 at 1432, REE has good signal even with long-path echo, as a Belgian ``flamenco`` is attempting to read a statement in fraxured Castilian about the Euro, but the natives are pleased that he tried.

Much weaker on // 21515, which I see will be gone from tomorrow in B-13, with 21630 added, registered 13-17 UT, despite BBC and WHRI still being on it during much of that span. Will they really collide? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 750, Oct 26 at 1211 UT, ranchera music from WSW/ENE, heavy CCI, 1213 Spanish announcement mentions Tejas. Probably KAMA El Paso.

Since NRC AM Log again in 2013 says 750 KMMJ Grand Island NE has some Spanish, I`ve been wary of logs here based on language, so I look at the KMMJ.org website (why don`t stations` own sites show up at or near the top of Google searches? Instead lots and lots of streaming services, etc. Finally I find KMMJ site by going to Wikipedia).

There looking at the entire program schedule for M-F, Sat and Sun, there are NO titles in Spanish, FWIW, just gospel huxters and Dave Ramsey in English. We also learn that the calls retroactively signify: ``Keeping your Mind on the Message of Jesus``. Nothing about ``The Bridge`` as in NRC Log, not even by internal search of the site.

750 is also the home of a much-wanted OK station, KSEO in Durant, 220-watt ND daytimer, which I have never heard a trace of in daytime, SRS or SSS, and continue to wonder if it`s really on the air. If not closer to Durant, would someone on I-35 around the Red River please check for it? (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1190, Oct 26 at 1222 UT, promo for Bob ----, ``The Grim Reaper`` not only M-F at 10 am but ``could be even worse when repeated at 4 pm``, on ``the all-new KQQZ, The Patriot``. This website:
http://kqqz1190am.com/
linx only to streaming, no program schedule to look up his last name, but it`s really Insane, as ``Hot Talk, Kool Killer Kountry, The 1st Amendment and All American Station``.

KQQZ Has two mascots: a yellow-devil wielding a trident(?) weapon; and a much cuter green double 6-gun-totin` saguaro cactus cowboy sheriff, a perfect match for St. Louis MO, roughly a kilomile from the nearest wild saguaro. At least KQQZ no longer confronts cross-state QRM as Disney turned off and pulled out of Kansas City.

Then I search on Grim Reaper and find he pertains [-ed?] to sibling(?) station KZQZ 1430:
http://www.kzqz1430am.com/
Riverfront Times article about Bob Romanik says he`s an ex-con. So what exactly is the division/relationship between the 1190 and 1430 stations? This long article goes into the convoluted history of these and other stations, as of 15 months ago:
http://www.riverfronttimes.com/2012-08-02/news/bob-romanik-grim-reaper-of-radio-insane-broadcasting/2/
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. TP carrier search Oct 26 at 1151-1157: JBA on 594, 693, 747, 774, 882, 972, 1143. 774 and 972 are slightly stronger than the others. I decided to sit on 972 at 1200 trying to detect a S Korean timesignal, but inconclusive (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Somalia: chiusa popolare Radio Shabelle

(tnx Andrea Borgnino)
